1st Day of School 1/9/2006
My sweet baby started school today. I don’t know who was more excited and anxious - her or me. I think me for sure.
Adelina was such a big girl! She did cry once the reality hit that Mommy was going to leave her at school, but after she started playing and interacting with the other kids and teachers, she was hooked. I came back after completing her registration paperwork and she almost didn’t seem to care that I was there. 20 minutes earlier she was crying and clinging to me and begging me not to go. Oh, the drama!! It didn’t hurt that they got to play with shaving cream - what a fun mess!
I think she is going to LOVE school, but it is so strange to have been a Mom for so short a time and to already be sending my baby off on her own like that. Within a few days to a week, she’ll be riding the BUS! Her preschool is every day for 2.5 hours, so at least she won’t be gone all day.
Now that I’ll have a couple of hours to myself each day, you can expect more frequent posts. There is so much to tell, so stick around for more of the escapades of our adorable Adelina.
Such a precious daughter is Adorable Adelina!!
God has so much in store for you ALL - for your FAMILY.
I’m so happy for you that she settled in so quickly and happily!
I know it’s hard for you, Jodi, but a JOY as well!!!
Lots of Love and Kisses for you and Adelina!
Nancy, aka “Grandma”!!

You two are such great parents. I love watching you release Adelina to independance and exploration. I really believe that part of the reason she has adapted so well is becuase you both have been so sensitive to being observant and seeing what it is that she needs to adjust. Even when it isn’t exactly what you had in mind. Hooray for you, Hooray for school and other kids to learn from and hooray for the 27th!
Hi Jodi, You will be amazed at the amount of “stuff” you can now do in 2 1/2 hours! My 4 year old daughter also goes to preschool 5 days for 3 hours. I love this schedule. My son is in a program 3 days a week for 4 hours and I find that to be a little long and ususally pick him up early. Then on Thursday and Friday, he wonders why he can’t go to school like his sister. I’ve already signed him up for her program when he gets older.(4) Anyway. Gosh - Congratulations on everything! Kathy
Hey there. Great to hear that things are finally settling down for you guys. WOW! School already! Isn’t it hard to believe that you were half way around the world only a few months ago and now you’ve had your first Christmas and Adelina is already starting school? BOY! How time flies, eh?
We’re really glad that everything is working out for you guys. Seems like we allare going through our little trials and tribulations as we try to parent these wonderful kids for the first time. Thank God for patience, kindness and the love that only parents can know with their children.
Anyway, keep in touch, won’t you? Take care of each other.
