Our Adoption - 9 Weeks to go 5/20/2005
Week 41
The week in summary:
- Redid my medical paperwork for the third time
- Got a revised Petition to Adopt apostilled by the Secretary of State
- Got another vaccination
- Booked our hotel stay for our layover in London
- Finished one book and started flipping through another
- Contacted a pediatrician who specializes in children adopted from other countries and was able to schedule an appointment for the end of September!
- we started plans for a special photo book to take with us for L.T.
Despite the above list, life was almost oddly normal this week. I know, I know, I should enjoy it while I have it blah blah blah. But the truth is, I was never one to get excited over “normal.”
Goodness! I’m getting excited over here too! So many fun details to put together! It must be hard to sleep.
That’s good training, you know.
I liked “Toddler Adoption: The Weaver’s Craft” but maybe you’ve already read that one.
Normal is over rated
Jodi, how are you? i’d love to come out and visit you in AZ. Maybe sometime as a friend from Romania got her green card from her mom. Her mom lives in Phoenix. Not sure with my health though, how much traveling i will be up to.
I was so busy in nashville i did not have time to catch up with Tammy.
i am SOOO excited for you and Steve with your upcoming adoption. What does L.T. stand for? Have you picked a name yet?
Adele
Wow! Sounds like a wonderful and busy week!
(Btw, we were all tested for TB when we came home–and all were negative. One more good medical thing. . . And if you do need medical care while in Kyiv, the American Medical Center has an excellent new doctor. I don’t know whether he does adoption-related stuff, but if anything weird happens and you need a doc, they are great.)
I just read last week’s entry and the recomendation from adoptive parents to buy clothes in Ukraine. I was boggled by that. I hated shopping for clothes in Ukraine, for me or the kids. We were blessed with lots of hand-me-downs and I did have my sis make a big Old Navy run for polos and shorts a few summers ago. . .
I guess getting just the things you need for the interim isn’t a problem. . . But for the long term–the clothing prices for anything of decent quality is so high.
